About Us

Rooted in the PNW. Forged on the Trail.

Hello! My name is Jeff Tolentino, and I founded Toltrek right here in Oregon with one simple mission: to make the outdoors accessible to everyone. To me, being outside isn't just a lifestyle—it’s a vital source of health and inspiration. Whether it’s picking huckleberries with your sweetheart or a 1,000-mile trekking season, I believe the best version of ourselves is found somewhere along the trail.

From the Sierras to the Cascades

My journey into the wild began with the scent of pine needles and campfire smoke during family summers in the Sierra Nevada. From childhood campouts near Lake Tahoe to long backpacking trips into the Yosemite backcountry as an adult, the outdoors has always been my North Star.

I trained with the Mazamas after moving to Oregon in 2016, eventually climbing many of the Cascades’ most iconic glaciated peaks—including Mount Shasta, Mount Hood, and Mount Rainier.

All of these experiences inform my approach to Toltrek.  I understand the value that time out in the wild can bring to us as individuals, and know that it can be achieved easily and without complication.

Why Toltrek?

I started Toltrek because I believe that technical expertise shouldn't be intimidating. At Toltrek, we’ve hiked the miles, climbed the peaks, and explored the farthest corners of the Pacific Northwest to understand how gear holds up to the elements.

Rooted in the Willamette Valley, we are proud to be an Oregon local business. Because we live and breathe the Pacific Northwest, we can provide the knowledge you need to choose the best equipment at the right price. Whether you are prepping for your first family camping trip or your tenth climb up Mount Rainier, Toltrek provides the expertise you need for your next adventure.
